If not for the logo in the attached image, you wouldn’t be able to guess which screenshot belongs to which Q-commerce #grocery App. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Jacob’s Law in UI/UX concepts, talks about this interesting phenomenon. Coined by Jakob Nielsen, a User Advocate and principal of the Nielsen Norman Group. ☺

🚀We as a user, use multiple applications for various purposes, from Grocery #delivery to ##subscription based #entertainment — and we expect the platforms to act similarly or look similar because we have developed a habit of perceiving #products of specific needs in a certain way.

💡What does the #Jacob’s Law say? Users spend most of their time on other sites. This means that users prefer your site to work the same way as all the other sites they already know.
Users will transfer expectations they have built around one familiar product to another that appears similar.

🤔 A quick example of this phenomenon is as observed in the attached #infographic. The categories selected for all three apps are same (The Desserts Tab), although they are a completely different product, the display of items and categories is eerily similar.

What other examples of this phenomenon can you think of? 🙋🏻‍♂️
